Derek D. Samz joined Di Monte & Lizak, LLC in 2006. He received an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois, (B.A., Economics, 2002), and also attended law school at the University of Illinois College of Law (J.D., 2006). During his time at the College of Law, Derek co-authored an article for the publication Tax Notes, entitled An Initial Inquiry into the Tax Classification of Series Limited Liability Companies, which was used as a subject for study and discussion at the annual Multi-state Tax Conference. Derek's second article entitled Face/Off: The Struggle Between Informed Consent and Patient Welfare in Facial Transplant Surgery, has been selected by the College of Law's Journal of Law, Technology & Policy for publication in 2007. Derek is currently practicing in the areas of commercial law and bankruptcy.
